Lansing Manor

Lansing Manor is a 1819 Manor house for the Blenheim Patent, built by John Lansing for his daughter and son-in-law to administer the affairs of the former colonial land grant. Fully-restored to reflect the lifestyle of the first three generations of residents, 1819 to circa 1919, it is an operating museum and is a New York State historic site.

AG Carpentry was involved with the preservation and documentation of the house in its current state. Our scope was to remove and replace exterior cladding and trim to their historic specifications.

Crandell Theatre

The Crandell, (c.) 1926, is a historic single screen movie theater originally built as a vaudeville stage. AG Carpentry was brought in to do a complete removal of the existing ceiling and to reproduce a new one in-kind including plaster cornices, insulation and a new HVAC mechanical system. Other modern upgrades included introducing digital projection. The interior was painted to match the original colors, designed in the Spanish Renaissance style by Louis L. Wetmore, an architect from Glens Falls, NY.

Studio

This artist’s studio sits perched atop a hill in Spencertown.  His priorities were making the space more functional while maintaining the dramatic views.  One way our team accomplished this was by doubling the square footage through extending the structural steel beams. We changed the slope of the roof and added windows for natural light.

Crandell Theatre Screen 2

#4 Depot Square will be home to a new single-screen theater in association with Chatham’s beloved Crandell Theatre. Thanks to a generous private donation and with the help of local architects, we are working together to bring this project to life.

Federal House

This Chatham Village residence was purchased from the adjacent church and has gone through an extensive interior and exterior renovation. There were several later porches and additions removed to simplify the site and bring the architecture to the forefront. All the windows, trim and siding were reproduced to historic specification in our Millwork Shop. The Vermont slate roof was added including standing seam copper snow-slides.

New Construction

This project features the demolition of an existing home and subsequent ongoing construction of a contemporary bungalow designed completely by the AG Carpentry team. It features large divided light and casement windows as well as French patio doors that open to a large deck facing southwest. The backyard pond and woods connect the interior to the outdoors, while radiant floor heating and modern kitchen provide the comforts of home. This house includes a custom stone chimney with a repurposed cast iron mantle from the 1800s while the entire copper roof package was made by Craft Metal Industries.

Copake Residence

Formerly a one-room schoolhouse circa 1902, this historic building is now a distinctive home with original details and modern upgrades. We were tasked with completely rebuilding the native stone chimney, reconstructing the exterior façade and producing a back-porch addition that features custom in-house fabricated wood and aluminum railings. We are continuing to work with this client on designing and building a portico that will fit the scale and aesthetic of their home.
